General Manager Environment, Infrastructure & Maintenance

The Port is the maritime gateway for the Nelson Marlborough region – a vital hub for economic activity and a key stakeholder in the region’s continued growth and prosperity. The Port is owned by Infrastructure Holdings Ltd, which is owned equally by Nelson City Council and Tasman City Council.
Core Accountabilities
As the General Manager Environment, Infrastructure and Maintenance (GM E, I & M) you will report to the CEO and be a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). You will have the core accountability for leading and driving a high-performance culture across the development and management of the Ports half a billion dollars’ worth of assets. A broad asset portfolio including commercial property, land, buildings, plant, pavements, slipway and wharves.
Your role is to optimise the Ports infrastructure, including further developing and implementing port asset management plans, driving property development, and overseeing major capital and maintenance projects for mobile plant and equipment. You will also ensure environmental progress across the Port including carbon reduction and conservation initiatives.
A key element of the role is providing positive and inspiring leadership for a diverse team of specialists. Whilst also managing stakeholder relationships, you will need to build strong relationships with the SMT, internal teams, the Board and externally with neighbours, iwi, local government and other environmental stakeholder groups.
Background and experience
To be successful in this role, our preferred candidate will be an experienced senior leader with a background in developing and maintaining large commercial assets and infrastructure, and environment management. Some property development experience is desirable but not essential.
You will have a relevant engineering qualification and considerable experience in this field. Be a transformational leader, with a proven history of driving culture, best practice, customer excellence and an absolute and unwavering commitment to health and safety.
