Port Nelson Ltd (PNL) is the maritime gateway for the Nelson Marlborough region – a vital hub for economic activity and a key stakeholder in the region’s continued growth and prosperity.
As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating high-quality mechanical repair, maintenance, installation, and project work on all of the Port’s mechanical plant. In order to provide the best service to the Port, you will lead a team of eight including Diesel Mechanics, and Apprentices as well as coordinate contractor services.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will also play a key role in driving short and long-term maintenance reliability and strategy.
To be successful in this role, our preferred candidate will have proven leadership skills, be adept in motivating teams to succeed, and have a track record for driving and entrenching a health and safety culture. One day is never the same as the last, and you will have multiple job fronts running at one time, therefore the ability to demonstrate strong process, and planning organisational skills will be essential. At the Port, we are always looking for ways to improve, as such we are looking for someone who has fresh ideas, who is open and can listen to others to ensure our culture of continuous improvement is embedded in the team.
We are looking for someone who has heavy maintenance experience, a relevant mechanical trade qualification with a minimum of two years of leadership experience.
